Psychotherapy Treatment in Melbourne

At Mindoc, we’re committed to helping adult patients manage their mental health conditions through the use of different treatments, including psychotherapy or “talking therapy”. Psychotherapy allows patients to regain a sense of control in life by teaching healthy coping techniques and problem-solving skills for any situations that may arise and impact their mental illness.

From anxiety disorders, OCD and depression, to bipolar affective disorders and other personality disorders, psychotherapy treatment, sometimes in conjunction with medication, can help patients manage their conditions.

Methods of psychotherapy treatment

There are several methods for psychotherapy, such as one-on-one with the patient and psychiatrist, group sessions, couples therapy and family sessions, at Mindoc we primarily focus on individual treatment.

There are also several different approaches a psychiatrist can take when it comes to psychotherapy. At Mindoc, after speaking to the patient and learning about their particular disorder, we then determine which psychotherapy approach to use based on the suspected underlying factors contributing to their condition. We may also suggest alternative solutions to use in conjunction with therapy sessions, such as medication for their condition.

Psychotherapy treatment helps patients to understand and identify any life problems or events that are contributing to their illness and helps them to improve aspects of those problems. It may take several weeks, sometimes a year or more to see “results” from treatment, but we believe the benefits are worth the time taken.
